About the instructor:
Emily González is a natural resource educator and has taught sustainable southern gardening to youth and adults for over 10 years. Her youth gardening programs reinforced science concepts and were recognized by school administrators for increasing students' science comprehension. She has a BA from Indiana University and an MS in Natural Resource Education from Oregon State University. During her time in Oregon, she developed and taught a bilingual (English and Spanish) place-based forest inquiry program for children, which was shown to increase their interest in science and forest studies. She is currently a homeschool mom who loves teaching and learning many things, including Spanish, science, and backyard gardening. She and her son also love great biographies, learning about Jesus, hikes in the woods, and anything made with maple syrup.
